CORNING NY- The memories were as thick as cobwebs Saturday July 26 2014 as members of the Corning East Boys lacrosse team gathered to receive their Championship rings. Never mind the awards came 24 years after the initial celebration June 13, 1990 on the campus of Hofstra University in Hepstead Long Island. There they were, Tony, Casey, Toddy,Burnie, Dom, Guz, and more, all contributing to That Championship Season, gaining revenge on the Yorktown Cornhuskers 13-7, a team that had beaten the Trojans earlier in the regular season 11-2 (13 points). That number turned out to be a sign for East...winning by a 13-7 margin on June 13 with 13 Seniors, and, to carry it further, they traveled to the Title game on charter bus #13 in a fleet of 13. It seemed the planets aligned for Trojan Lax.Bob Michaels of RLM SPORTS had the call then and caught up with Tony Ruocco, Casey Donegan, Dom Dinardo, Dan Burnside, and Todd Cavallaro.

Corning, NY- Vestal's no huddle offense and the spirited running of Zach Cook propelled the Bears to a 30-13 win carrying the ball 25 times for 239 yards over the Corning Hawks. Senior Quarterback Nick Wegmann made the most of his opportunities either running the ball or handing off to the 5'7" Cook. To Corning's credit the offense got on the board this week thanks to the work of Fullback Steve Crouch...140 yards on 16 carries. Corning will host Ithaca next Friday seeking that elusive first win. Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Ty CobbStadium a week from Saturday when Vestal tangles with the Union Endicott Tigers.
